Home / School News / Solar Eclipse Monday August 21

Dear Parents of Great Cardinal Students:

On August 21, many people in our country will experience a possibly once-in-a-lifetime event; a total solar eclipse.  The eclipse will take a path across the United States and will be observable by many in its entirety from one coast to the other.  Our teachers have taken this opportunity to teach all about this amazing astral event, including creating viewing tools and learning about the science behind the event. We believe your children should be able to experience it with you at home.  Therefore, Cardinal Charter Academy will dismiss at 12:00 for grades 1 and 2 and 12:15 for grades 3-8 in order to allow you to share this experience with your child(ren). As we’re sure you are aware, it is dangerous to stare at the sun even though it appears to be covered.  We recommend that you take all precautions necessary at home to protect your child’s vision.  If you have any questions, please email me at RDraper@cardinalcharter.org.

We are looking forward to greeting you all on Monday; let’s have a great school year!
