Each Friday, third grade students at Cardinal Charter Academy update their data notebooks and work with an accountability partner to gather feedback on progress towards meeting their individual goals. Each data notebook contains a student goal and action plan with student developed goals for reading and math. Students write their action steps to achieving this quarterly goal. While meeting with their accountability partners, they review and track follow through on the action steps.
Additional data that the students track includes, self-reflection on citizenship and adherence to the Cardinal 4 (school-wide expectations), personal motivation for the week, digital learning program usage (TTM, LexiaCore5, Reading Plus), math standards (CMA data), CMA writing scores, and multiplication fact challenges.
Students have greater motivation and accountability by owning this data and they use it to lead their own parent conferences.
We are proud of our third grade teachers for leading this process and supporting our students in their personal development and academic growth.
